6 Tips for Getting Started With MediaAlpha as a State Farm Agent

These foundational tips can help insurance agents succeed on the MediaAlpha for Agents platform.

At MediaAlpha for Agents, we’re proud to offer high-quality insurance leads alongside the industry’s most knowledgeable, most dedicated team of customer service experts. And getting started with our user-friendly, lead-buying platform is quick and easy.

Here are six tips for how you can start growing your business with MediaAlpha.

1. Bookmark your account sign-in page and learn how to reset your password

In order to start buying leads, you’ll first need to be able to log into your account on the MediaAlpha for Agents platform using your State Farm email. We recommend bookmarking the platform sign-in page, which you can find at https://insurance-agent.mediaalpha.com.

Once there, you’ll be prompted to enter your user name and password. If you can’t remember your password, you can click the “Forgot Password” link that we’ve outlined in green in the screenshot below. After following the link and inputting your email, you’ll receive an automated email message with another link you can click to change your password.

2. Choose what kind of leads you want to buy—Premium and/or Preferred—on the Settings page of the platform

You can use the Settings page of the platform to choose whether you would like to buy Premium leads, Preferred leads, or both. Premium leads cost $11.00 per lead and Preferred leads cost $10.00—but the price you ultimately pay will depend on your tier in the State Farm subsidy program.

3. Find your leads in the State Farm eCRM tool or our platform—and contact them as soon as possible

Every time you purchase a lead, you’ll get an email notifying you that it’s available. If you’d like, you can use the Settings page of our platform to sign up for text notifications, as well. Through our integration with State Farm’s eCRM, you’ll be able to view your leads in your lead management system or customer relationship management software. In addition, you will also be able to view your leads in the My Leads tab of the MediaAlpha platform.

Once a lead comes in, we recommend contacting the consumer as quickly as possible. This way, you can catch them while they’re still shopping for insurance. For more best practices on when and how to contact your leads, check out our sample lead outreach schedule.

4. When necessary, you can return leads via the lead details page of our platform

We offer a hassle-free return policy that enables you to return a lead within seven days of purchase. All you have to do is mark the lead for return inside ECRM, and you’ll get your money deposited back into your account once the return is approved.

If you have any questions, you can always reach out to your dedicated client success manager, who will be happy to assist you throughout the return process. If we notice that an agent has an unusually high lead return rate—for instance, upwards of 20%—we will work to isolate the issue and ensure that all parties are acting in good faith.

5. You can pause your account whenever you need, for as long as you want

Going through a stretch where you don’t have the resources to buy and work new leads? You can pause your account for as long as you like on the Settings page of the platform. Then, you can unpause your account and start buying leads again whenever you decide. In other words, you never have to worry that your account will resume purchasing leads without your consent or while you’re not paying attention.

6. Use automatic refill to maintain a consistent pipeline of new prospects

In order to continue growing your business at scale, you’ll want to make sure you have enough new leads coming in to maintain a steady flow of new customers. That’s why it might be a good idea to turn on our automatic refill feature, which can be found on the Settings tab of the platform.

When automatic refill is turned on, we’ll add more money to your MediaAlpha for Agents account every time your balance dips below $50. It’s up to you to decide how much money to add to the account every time it’s automatically refilled.
